Houston, we have an interview

I have an interview with the President of Columbia College tomorrow morning.

What?

I’m a real reporter?

Apparently they weren’t kidding at our orientation. I’m excited and nervous, but I’m ready to jump in head first to this process. Here we go!

Day #1

Today was, in my eyes, my first official day of being a (gulp) ”reporter.” I woke-up this morning with the news on my mind at 7 a.m. and checked the Missourian homepage to prepare for J4450. I was pleasantly surprised to see nothing too shocking or surprising and felt a little more confident for my first day of playing reporting. I knew the stories, I had opinions on them. That’s all I needed, right?

Wrong.

I’m the next “Chanel”

Taking the advice of a well-respected journalist in Columbia, Jen Reeves, I’m taking a stand and making a brand out of my name. My given name is actually Lauren, but since a few fellow Lauren Bishops have chosen the same career path as I, I’m going out on a limb and transforming my nickname into a professional brand. I think I’m alright with seeing Ren Bishop in eight point font for the rest of my career, however, I’m sure my mother will always chirp in with: “I did not name you after a bird, your name is Lauren.”

Allow me to introduce myself, if you will. My name is Ren Bishop. I’m a twenty year-old Journalism/International Studies double-major at the University of Missouri, and have a true love of politics, news, and the power of the written word to influence in ways that guns, fists, and genocide do not.

I’m excited about my future in this industry and am ready to get started.
